What is this?
A community voted list of the most influential Bluesky posters of 2026. Anyone with a Bluesky account can be voted for, everyone gets 10 votes, and the 38 accounts with the most votes make the list.
It is not a Bluesky project. It was made by and , who post on Bluesky like everybody else.
Why does it exist?
It started with Rolling Stone’s list of the 25 most influential creators. One of us shared it in , the other had the idea of doing something similar for Bluesky, and we built this interactive experience together using the same open protocol that powers Bluesky. The design of this site is a nod to the original article.
This is just a fun and silly community event.
Why 38?
It’s hard to explain, but 38 is the canonical age of a Bluesky user.
My votes are public?
Yes. A vote is a record saved to your own Bluesky account, the same way a post, a like, a follow or a block is a record saved to it. It is not kept in a database here. It sits in your account alongside everything else you have written there, and anything in an account can be read by anyone.
Public records are how atproto, the protocol Bluesky is built on, works today: there is no private record to put a ballot in. Private data is being worked on, and you can read where that has got to in the atproto spaces announcement, but none of it exists yet.
Is logging in secure?
You sign in with your Bluesky account through OAuth, which means you type your password on your own account’s host, never here. We never see your password.
The account permissions we ask for cover four things: saving your votes, saving a campaign profile, uploading a campaign avatar, and removing you from the nominees if you ask. It cannot post, follow, like, or otherwise control your account, and you can revoke it from your account at any time.
Someone is missing from the list. How do they get on it?
Someone gets on the board because a person voted for them. There is no nomination round and no shortlist to get through first, so an account missing from the leaderboard is not ineligible, just unvoted so far.
Search for anyone on the vote page, including people who have never heard of this. Your vote is what puts them there.
Can I change or take back a vote?
Yes, while voting is open. Press a vote again to take it back, on the vote page or on your ballot, and the record is deleted from your account.
Your ballot holds 10 votes. Taking one back gives you the vote to spend again.
Can I be removed from the nominee list?
You can take yourself out of the running from your ballot page, and you can rejoin while voting is open. Coming off the board does not touch the votes you have cast for other people.
When does voting close?
Voting closes on the 21st night of September, after which the standings stop moving. Votes written after it are ignored rather than counted late.
